1: Learn everything you can about full-arch implants:

If you’re reading this, you’re already taking the first step you need to take to prepare for your full-arch implants, which is doing the research to see if it is right for you. There’s a lot of information out there, so to make it easier for you, we’ve gathered resources with answers to some of the most common questions we get about full-arch implants.

You can also check out our Ultimate Guide To Full-Arch Implants, for a more detailed overview.

2: Write a list of questions or concerns you still have:

The next step is to draw a list of questions or concerns you still have after getting an idea for if full-arch implants could be right for you. Gathering together questions will help you be more confident and assured when you go to your consultation in the future so you can be assured you’re making the best decision for you and your health.

3: Find a credible dentist for the procedure:

While all dentists can perform implant surgeries, we advise you to look for a dental implant specialist who has been specifically trained to handle complex implant procedures. As an example, both Dr. Charles and Dr. Kashi at GDAI are graduates of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), Associate Fellows of the AAID, as well as members of other top implant dentistry organizations in the country.

It’s also important to know that they have successfully helped people just like you transform their smiles and their lives with full-arch implants. You should look for an implant specialist with a track record of successfully performing full-arch implant procedures. One thing that is great to do if you’re able is to ask if they have experience with bone grafting or handling complications that may arise in the procedure process.

4: Schedule a consultation:

After you choose the right specialist for the procedure, you will then schedule your consultation. Here’s a look at what you can expect during your dental implant consultation:

  • An in-depth oral exam (including x-rays, impressions, and a general oral health exam)
  • Questions about your situation/goals (medical history, reasons for getting the procedure, costs/payment options, etc.)
  • Action plan (Next steps & associated procedures such as bone grafting or tooth extractions)

Important to note: If you need to get bone grafting done, it will take 4-12 months to heal before the full-arch implant can be performed. Also, if you currently smoke, you will need to quit prior to the procedure for a successful implant.

After this, you will set your surgery date and be on your way to a healthier, happier smile!

Like most I've never been to particular with the dentist....well Dr. Charles is a different story! His team and him are very personable and down to earth. While working on your mouth he likes to listen to music and dance! Its quite the show and takes the nervousness out of being in the dreaded Seat! Give him a try and you won't regret it....You'll not only have a spectacular dentist but a great group of friends!
